If you are a licensed electrician or a 4th year electrical apprentice this course is for you. In doing so the course will cover system thinking skills for the design, installation, interconnection and integration of intelligent appliances and systems. This will involve the ability to integrate systems into a network at various scales and the ability to communicate with both internal and external customers on the deployment of these technologies.

The course is designed to develop a network focused mind- set, as products are increasingly unlikely to be standalone pieces of equipment This involves an understanding Network, local and cloud; Network Connectivity; and Control of Smart Devices through the integration of electronics, software, sensors and actuators. Outline:
  • Unit 1 – VU23104 - Apply knowledge of the Internet of Things in an electrotechnology environment
  • Unit 2 – VU23105 - Design Internet of Things service systems and devices
  • Unit 3 – VU23106 - Install Internet of Things service systems and devices
  • Unit 4 – VU23107 - Test, troubleshoot and commission Internet of Things service systems and devices
  • Unit 5 – VU23108 - Connect, commission and test Internet of Things devices
Pre-requisite:

Licensed Electrician and hold a current Open Cabler Registration card; or 4th Year Electrical Apprentice and have completed the following units of competency:

  • UEEDV0005 – Install and maintain cabling for multiple access to telecommunication services; and
  • UEEDV0008 – Install, modify and verify coaxial and structured communication copper cabling

Or equivalent units of competency:

  • UEENEEF102A – Install and maintain cabling for multiple access to telecommunication services; and
  • UEENEEF104A – Install, modify and verify coaxial and structured communication copper cabling
