Pyrenees Timber is a family run sawmill in Chute, Victoria between Melbourne and Adelaide. They mill and supply hardwood to wholesalers, industry and the general public. The Middy’s TechEnergy Team recently delivered a Solar Energy Install and LED Lighting Upgrade at one of Rip Curl's warehouses in Torquay, Victoria. The install supports one of Rip Curl's 5 Brand Values 'Community & Environment'. Rip Curl are always looking at ways to minimise their impact on the environment.

The Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex (CDSCC) is part of an international network that supports interplanetary spacecraft missions as well as making radio and radar astronomy observations, in pursuit of pure science. Managed by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) of the Australian Government, it forms part of NASA’s Deep Space Network as one of three tracking stations across the world.

The Middy’s TechEnergy Team delivered a Solar Energy Install at the Membrey Dairy Farm in Warrnambool. The install supports a commitment to reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions and creates a sustainable financial model to mitigate rising power costs.

Dayco is a global leader in research, design, manufacturing and distribution of essential engine products and drive systems for cars, trucks, construction and industry and constantly looks to optimise efficiency in its workplace environments. Accessing a New South Wales Government energy saver initiative scheme, Dayco undertook an upgrade of existing Metal Halide Highbays to new Haneco Skypad 150W Light Emitting Diode (LED) Highbays at their automotive plant in Wagga Wagga, NSW. The impact on operations was immediate, reducing hefty maintenance costs and lowering energy consumption for the manufacturing site.

Australia’s largest motor auction enterprise, Manheim Auctions conducted an energy saving lighting program in mid 2014 in conjunction with Middy’s Abbotsford and the Middy’s TechEnergy Team. The program involved replacing 170 x 400W metal halide highbays with just 133 x Primo 155W LED highbays and one 115W LED high bay. The extra brightness of the 17,000 lumen LED fittings enabled Manheim to increase their light levels while reducing the number of fittings at the same time. The increased light levels have enabled the operation of forklifts to start 2 hours earlier – a major boost to productivity.

Middy’s are a proud sponsor of Muscular Dystrophy Australia. To assist the amazing team at MDA, Middy’s Energy Smart offered to refit their office in North Melbourne with the latest Omega Greenline LED lighting. Through the kind support of Casey Electrical Services, MDA have been able to lower their monthly expenses, freeing up raised funds to be spent on more important areas of the business.

The Northern Victoria Livestock Exchange is the largest livestock exchange in Victoria for its throughput of cattle and one of the largest in Australia. NVLX conducts Prime, Store, Cow, Bull and Special Cattle sales as well as sheep and horse sales and has a ten year throughput average in excess of 205,000. NVLX approached their electrical contractor Muntz Electrical, with the need for a simple lighting automation system.

Originally opened in August 2010, Crowne Plaza Adelaide in Hindmarsh Square required an LED lamp refurbishment to cut down on massive energy consumption. Middy’s TechEnergy were called in to replace the existing standard halogen downlights with 1250 LED downlights. This resulted in an overall wattage saving of 47,500 for the entire building and 38 watts per lamp. 

In the wake of a large scale update of street lighting around the Warrnambool foreshore precinct, a lack of light was still identified in some areas at the conclusion of the project. Solar G Light House systems were then selected and utilised to address this urgent requirement.

Warrnambool’s Callaghan Motors recently undertook a lighting and solar overhaul as a progressive business move that will save the organisation thousands in electricity costs annually, while making a positive impact environmentally.

Middy’s TechEnergy and D2 Lighting were engaged by BAE Systems to conduct a review of their maintenance hangar at Melbourne Airport. BAE were required to undertake a number of upgrade projects (including lighting) to bring the hangar up to Australian Standards. The project benefits include an annual saving of $45k and increased lux reading by 1860% (276.4 lux).

The ROI was only 6 months with project lifetime savings over $1m and a significant CO2 reduction.

Middy’s TechEnergy conducted an energy audit on behalf of a local contractor at Clyde Park Vineyard, a fine wine maker located 30 kilometres north of Geelong. The contractor presented the energy audit to the Owners who subsequently approved installation of a solar system and LED lighting fit out. The 20 kilowatt integrated solar panel system entails 80 solar panels that will dramatically reduce the amount of greenhouse gases produced and make Clyde Park more carbon friendly and sustainable.

Southwest business owners save money on energy and help sustain the environment with solar power panel installation. This story was published in Southwest Biz, Volume 27, Summer 2013/14. Warrnambool business Callaghan's Moters recently added 120 solar panels to the roof of their business. The results have been instant and positive by saving them on energy bills and making a positive environmental impact. 

The Beleura Private Hospital in Mornington required a fix for an OH&S issue regarding nighttime lighting of patient wards. When the lights were turned off at night it was difficult for staff and patients to locate the switches. Contractors Body Electrical worked with ElecVision to implement the most effective solution.
